The Made Possible by Melbourne campaign showcases to the public the world-changing research taking place at the University of Melbourne.
Made Possible by Melbourne, where Great Minds Collide is the University’s 2016 brand campaign and an extension of the Collisions Campaign launched in 2015.
In 2016, the intention was to bring the University’s research to life in Melbourne. To achieve this a tram stop-based exhibition was established in the Melbourne CBD, showcasing the world-changing research of the University of Melbourne, and the real world impact it creates.
The exhibition involved 14 specially-designed and manufactured installations across the CBD that used models and interactive elements to enhance public engagement with each research story. Ending avoidable blindness in Indigenous Australians, growing greener cities and equipping robotic prosthetics with a human touch are just some of the research stories displayed, each demonstrating the breath and impact of interdisciplinary research conducted at the University of Melbourne.
Each exhibit was accompanied by an audio tour, hosted by alumna Libbi Gorr, telling a short story about the research and the academics behind it. The installations also invited the public to explore more about the research on Pursuit, the University’s digital story-telling platform.
The Made Possible by Melbourne CBD exhibition is now roaming Australia, featuring at key events, including the recent launch of TEDxMelbourne.
